"I'm sorry" she said,
As they made a temporary goodbye,
He knew it was only a year,
Yet, he could not help but cry.
It had not been so very long since
They'd confessed feelings beyond a friend,
And with an absence, even this short,
Both were afraid this 'thing' might end.
He let her do all the talking that night,
Sadness left him unsure of what to say,
But he sat down in his room,
And just sat there till the very next day.
For months she wrote to him,
Filling pages with her stories and rhymes,
Told him of her life and her dreams,
While both counted down the time.
Yes, there were times he was scared
Days he thought, is this a mistake?
But then she would call him and he knew,
Giving her up would cause his heart to break.
Each pages she sent and rhyme she wrote,
Melted his heart more and more,
And over time he began to realize,
This woman was worth waiting for.
And so he waited and continue waited,
Until one night he heard a familiar voice,
"Hy, so, what's up?" she said,
And in that instant his heart rejoiced.
"I've missed you so much!" he replied,
"Now that you're back, I'm doing just fine,
Lets see if we can't get this thing going again,
Because I want so badly to actually feel your lips against mine."
And so the characters pick up again,
Writing the pages as they go,
Watching as day after day,
Their love story continues to grow.
